Guide to massages oils and butters

Dernière mise à jour : 24 juil.

Sharing n° 195

Namaste, Bienvenue, welcome,

The secret of a successful massage, or skin, hair and body care, is also to understand that they act on several levels.

Certainly the technique is important, knowledge of the bod and of reflex and acupuncture points, means to rebalance pain and tension, to dissolve crystallizations, to unblock muscular contractures and energies, reactivate them and circulate them.

But it It is also essential to have the right approach, the right state of mind and level of consciousness, and the right products to achieve them : I describe here the main properties of 16 vegetable oils and butters, classified in alphabetical order in French.

The Intention first of all, the right vibrational level by working on your magnetism, your anchoring, the pleasure of massaging and sharing energies with others, the vibrational energies of the place too because everything is Vibration and Energy. And quantum scientists like Nikola Tesla, Nassim Haramein, or Professor Marc Henry have clearly shown in their discoveries that what we see, what our senses tell us is only a very small part of the energetic reality, which is very largely vibrational, energetic and unconscious.

Once we understand this, we can also act consciously, by multiplying vibrational sharing on different levels and dimensions.

This is what I practice for my part, both for my own vital energy and for that which I share during the services. If the vibrational level of the practitioner is high, he will transmit it by resonance to the person receiving, but also he will receive the right guidance and intuitions.

Each oil, each plant, each essential oil also has specific energies and vibrations, and active ingredients, medicinal properties and specificities that it is important to know and especially to experience, starting with the smell, the perfume, the texture more or less fluid and smooth, creamy or oily, more or less adapted to the skin and the preferences of the person. The cost also comes into play, especially if you use them professionally.

This knowledge is interesting for everyone, in fact, because there are also many simple self-massage techniques, which I will come back to in a future publication, and certain products are also edible and can be used both in care, self care, and for cooking.

You must keep in mind that in a few minutes, the substances and active ingredients of plants, oils, and even more concentrated essential oils, will be absorbed by your skin, and will be diffused, even more quickly, if you apply, and rub, for a few tens of seconds, for example, on certain reflex zones, such as the arches of the feet, the chakras, in particular the solar plexus (a hand's width above the navel), behind the neck, on the wrists and hands, thanks to nervous and energetic interconnections

Certain plants act as polytherapies because they sometimes have numerous active ingredients, up to several dozen, which act at the same time and in a specific way. Some examples of the main essential oils that I use on a daily basis: Wintergreen essential oil is a powerful natural analgesic. It is recommended for muscle pain and contractures, just as pine and rosemary are known to relieve joint pain.

Neroli essential oil is known for its mild fragrance and its natural calming, anxiolytic and antidepressant effects. It is a very good cellular and skin regenerator.

Lavender calms and soothes, but it has dozens of different active ingredients.

Patchouli is an anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, it promotes circulation and healing, it stimulates and regenerates the skin.

Tea tree is one of the most complete and versatile essential oils

Peppermint refreshes and stimulates the body and mind (like lemon), reduces headaches, pain and itching.

APRICOTS ' Kernels oil

This oil is rich in vitamins A and E, antioxidants, such as phytosterols, carotenoids, omega 9 and 6, which moisturize, protect, promote softness, suppleness, radiance and regeneration, particularly of dry and mature skin and that of the face for care, because it is absorbed quickly. Carotenoids also promote resistance to sun exposure, if it remains reasonable. Like many nuts and almonds, the kernels of apricots and the prunus genus also have anti-tumor properties, thanks to their amygdalin content, but it has not been proven that the oil also contains it and it is recommended to reserve this for skin use

ALMOND

According to Ayurveda, almond invigorates the intellect, spirituality and stimulates the reproductive function.

It is indeed one of the most important foods, an essential brain nutrient, very balancing, energetic due to its high protein content and its high mineral intake, magnesium, vitamins A, B and E (anti-oxidant, protection). cells, support for skin repair). It alkalizes the blood. 50% of the weight of a dry almond is made up of oils. All nuts have anti-cancer properties and protective effects for the arteries and the heart. Almonds contain oleic and linoleic acids in their lipids, triglycerides, antioxidants, and monounsaturated fats, important for skin structure.

They help regulate insulin and cholesterol.  Sweet almond oil is soothing and hydrating and helps improve skin tone. It is very beneficial for dry, sensitive and mature skin, it soothes irritation and supports the natural healing process. It has a fairly sweet scent.

Argan trees are one of the treasures of the Moroccan and Algerian pharmacopoeia (Tindouf region). The regions of the far south of Morocco consider argan plantations as a green belt against desertification.

Argan oil is produced from its fruit, which has multiple uses for cooking, medicines and cosmetics.

It has a moisturizing, softening, restorative function for the skin, and preventative against cardiovascular risk. Quickly absorbed, it is also recommended for the face. It makes hair softer and shinier.

It can be used internally to combat rheumatic and joint pain, and hypercholesterolemia. When used externally, it helps prevent superinfection of chickenpox spots, acne, and fight against dry skin and stretch marks.

Furthermore, given the importance of its content of antioxidant compounds such as carotenes, polyphenols, vitamins A, C and E and gamma tocopherol, it would also have an anti-proliferative, anti-tumor action.  It has a fairly strong scent.

Hemp oil has had a wide variety of uses for thousands of years.

It has a high moisturizing power and is very rich in OMEGA3.

Finally, organic hemp seeds have very high levels of essential minerals such as magnesium and iron.

Hemp seeds are known for their many health benefits.

Coconut oil and coconut are renowned for their vitamins, fatty acids (phytosterols), OMEGA 3 (alpha linoleic acids promote the nervous system, anti-inflammatory), 6 (poly unsaturated linoleic fatty acids which promote brain development, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging) and 9 (monounsaturated, anti-inflammatory oleic acids which protect the cardiovascular system, reduce bad cholesterol, hydrate and soften the skin), their highly digestible proteins and their rebalancing action against acidosis and Candida albicans

In cooking, it has the advantage of supporting cooking at high temperatures, unlike rapeseed and walnut oil, and of helping to burn fat.

In Ayurveda, coconut oil is renowned, especially in summer, for bringing freshness and for “Pitta” type organisms.

It nourishes the skin and soothes small burns thanks to its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and helps to minimize scars.

Rich in vitamins A (activates melanin and prepares the skin for UV rays) and E (tocopherol: antioxidants, anti-aging), it has anti-aging and protective properties, it improves skin renewal and regulates melanin, promotes cardiac system, cerebral system.

On the other hand, it should be avoided for oily and acne-prone skin.

It is the base of monoi, a Polynesian oil, with a captivating scent, obtained after maceration of tiaré flowers. It is known to repair, bring suppleness and shine to the hair, moisturize the skin, prevent and reduce stretch marks, prolong the effect of tanning.

Monoi is also the basis of Taurumi, a traditional massage of grounding and well-being, which connects body and mind, heart to soul: from hair and head, to arms and stomach, then on the legs and feet, in order to eliminate toxins, evacuate bad vibes, revive vital energy.

GHEE clarified butter

"The gold of Ayurveda, ghi, or ghee" is very present throughout the Indian subcontinent, originating from the desert region around Jodhpur, but not only that, because we also find forms of clarified milk butter. cow or buffalo, in Berber/Amazigh traditions (smen), among the Fulani, in Ethiopia, in the Middle East, in Egypt and even in Brazil. NIGELLA BLACK CUMIN

"Nigella sativa vegetable oil is also known as black cumin.

It is renowned and used for a long time by women for hair and skin care and for its properties on general well-being. Legend even says that it was found in the tombs of certain Egyptian queens.

It is a vegetable oil that is obtained from the seeds of nigella, an herbaceous plant, which is cold pressed. It has a beautiful color that tends towards orange but can also be green depending on the harvester, so it is not its color that ensures its qualities. It is rich in fatty acids, contains vitamins and amino acids.

First used in the Orient, it originated in North Africa more than 2,000 years ago." According to the blog of naturopath Tal Schaller, a medical study carried out in Pakistan proved its antiviral effectiveness in 2020.

In any case, it is naturally immunostimulating, it allows the release of protective hormones: histamines. Like the vitamin E contained in black cumin, it stimulates the immune system.

OLIV

In massage, olive oil, like sesame, is "median in terms of freshness/heat", creamy.

It protects, smoothes, regenerates and nourishes the skin, hydrates, reduces wrinkles and fine lines, thanks to polyphenols, essential for cell biogenesis, antioxidants, and vitamins E and vegetable squalane (restoration of the lipid barrier and protection of the skin and hair from dehydration).  Olive oil can be used, for example to macerate St. John's wort flowers in June, July, between 15 and 30 days in the sun, to activate the ideal properties of this plant.  One of the best and most beautiful examples, in France, of high-end treatments based on oils and substances from olive products and what Babette and Raphael Colicci practice in their establishment, surrounded by 1500 olive trees in Saint Privat in the north of Hérault. They have even patented certain skincare products. It is obviously a level of excellence, which makes us dream, but it also allows us to understand the full potential of this extraordinary tree, in a place which is just as extraordinary.

https://www.oleatherm.com/ A friend of Raphael Colicci, the oncologist Henri Joyeux often also highlights olive products in his conferences.

GRAPE SEEDS

Grapeseed oil has a neutral odor, is rich in essential fatty acids, notably omega 6, contains twice as much vitamin E as olive oil, powerful antioxidants, with moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, healing.  It reduces skin aging, blood cholesterol levels and sebum production.

The seeds are a source of resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory from the polyphenol family which fights against free radicals responsible, among other things, for the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. However, we know that this oxidation promotes the appearance of atherosclerotic plaques, sources of cardiovascular disease.

They would also be effective against certain cancers, particularly of the skin, to maintain cognitive abilities. Grape seeds have an antioxidant action greater than that of beta carotene and vitamins C and E; they reduce skin aging. They promote the healing of dermal wounds.

Another benefit of resveratrol: it helps the cells lining the walls of the vessels to produce more nitrogen monoxide, necessary for their flexibility.

Red vines, especially grapes, are rich in antioxidants and Pinot Noir is the grape variety that contains the most. There are flavonoids in the leaf (quercetin) and oligo-proathocyanin OPC in the seeds; resveratrol in the skin, seeds and in wine. This prevents cardiovascular disorders, when consumed in a reasonable dose. Antioxidants also relieve venous insufficiency and varicose veins.

SESAME

It could well be one of the oldest plants to have been used for the nutritional potential of its seeds and the numerous properties of its oil, for more than 5000 years in China and India, where this seed is associated with immortality. . .

Sesame seeds are known to stimulate the immune system thanks to a supply of immunostimulating micronutrients: vitamins B6, copper, iron, selenium, zinc and vitamins B9.

Internal use: antioxidant effect against cellular aging. analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect: joint and rheumatic pain, neuralgia; Hypocholesterolemic effect and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disorders; it helps the proper functioning of the liver, heart, brain and nervous system, it is a memory stimulant and it detoxifies the liver, thanks to the methionine it contains.

External use: It softens dehydrated or irritated skin, softens it, calms irritation. Sesame oil is renowned for its antioxidant, anti-wrinkle and beautifying effects on nails and hair.  Sesamol would also be chemopreventive for skin tumors.

SUNFLOWER

Originally from North and South America, this plant now grows everywhere, and has become the 4th main vegetable oil in the world, with several varieties. Sunflower oil, preferably cold pressed, is rich in healing oleic and linoleic fatty acids (maintains the moist and protective barrier, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, beneficial for dry skin and in cases of eczema), omega 6 , vitamins E (antioxidant which protects against free radicals and the harmful effects of the sun, premature aging and the effects of the sun), sesamol (preventative chemo), moisturizing, softening, which plumps the skin and does not clog pores.

Sunflowers symbolize, depending on cultures, summer, luck, perseverance and joy, abundance and prosperity, fertility, health, healing and longevity, enlightenment, spiritual awakening and personal growth, and “solar” plants, and stimulates with its energy the solar plexus chakra in the form of germinated seeds for example. The advantage is that it is one of the fastest germinating plants. They can be soaked in the morning, to be consumed at the end of the day.

Sunflower seeds stimulate the immune system with their numerous micronutrients: copper, iron, selenium, vitamins B6, B9, zinc.  This plant is also known to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects through its flavonoids and antioxidant substances, as well as against kidney and respiratory disorders, colds and coughs. It protects the cardiovascular system. In certain Caucasian traditions, applications as a substitute for quinine against malaria are reported.

Abhyanga the relaxing and regenerating Ayurvedic body massage with hot and fragrant oil of sunflower, coconut, and sesame, is renowned for its great relaxation and effectiveness, however be careful, because several oils are fragile to heat and it is better to avoid to heat them: flax, grape seeds, macadamia...

On the other hand, it is also not recommended to heat mixtures of vegetable oils and essential oils, because above 40°C, they lose their medicinal effects and can even become toxic.

One last point, pay attention to the composition of ready-made massage oils sold commercially. Sometimes, even the most famous ones like "tiger balm" contain, for example, about half, what is presented as "a neutral base of paraffin, semi-solid, therefore vaseline, extracted from petroleum; which is a shame for a product presented as natural, which also actually contains powerful essential oils of camphor, eucalyptus, clove, menthol.

For my part, professionally, I mainly use grape seed and sunflower oils, because they are versatile, neutral in terms of fragrance, and average in terms of creaminess. And I add shea butter and, according to customers, essential oils. Personally, I also really like shea, coconut oil and monoi, olive oil obviously, and hemp oil for its exceptional relaxing and stimulating properties. THANKS. I wish you all the best.
